After much reflection we decided on the name and soon found out that it is super-international! There are people from all over the world named “Mina”! In Arabic-speaking countries, in Iran, in India, even in Germany and the United States. In fact, Wilhemina was a very popular name in the United States at the turn of the 20th century and the nickname, “Mina” was correspondingly popular. When my daughter was about three years old we found out that we actually had a great great aunt who was named “Mina”! It is a lovely name and suits our little girl beautifully. Some people think we are saying “Nina” so we have to say, “Close, but with an ‘m’!” She can already spell it which is great. All around a lovely family name (and now we know it’s a family name on both sides!). Reply Share your thoughts on the name Mina Cancel ReplyYour email address will not be published.
