My given name is Melody my mother gave me the middle name Daun pronounced Dawn my middle name came from an uncle his name was Byron Don but I really don’t know whether his name was spelled d o n or the same as mine I didn’t like my first name when I was younger but my mother said that I was always singing and I always did love music so I guess she made the right choice I had a younger sister whose name was Holly Star an elderly lady who lived in the neighborhood told my sister and I that I was born in the morning with the sun shining brightly and that my sister went as far as we’re out at night we were only about 6and 7 years old so of course we believed everything the sweet old woman said lol years later when we were in junior high we met two sisters whose first names were Melody and Holly and just like us Holly was the younger of the two always thought that it was funny

  13. I love my name! I was named after my aunt. I do however get called Melanie and even Mallory an awful lot.

    • I, too, get called Melanie alot. Through my 66 years, I have adjusted by answering after the first syllable, Mel. Aunt Lillian had my name on a list of names. My Mom wanted me spelled Melode. People always spell it wrong. It was even spelled wrong on my birth certificate, Melodee! You can see the correction!

  24. I named my daughter, Melody Hope. I love music, it’s been my life since I was a child so I named her Melody in honor of that. I named her Hope for the meaning of it. I’m a single mother and at first my parents were against it since I’m young (23) and they wanted me to finish school and have my life set before I have a child, but I decided to continue with my pregnancy and have my daughter. Towards the end of my pregnancy I started having a few complications as well so my hopes and dreams, my wishes for her and her wellbeing, and my will to go on and hope to succeed go into the meaning behind Hope.

  25. Just have always liked the name. She is perfect!

  26. We wanted to decide on our baby’s name when we saw her and held her for the first time. Right away hearing her first cry and baby noises we loved the sounds she made. 27. I was thinking about the song melodies from heaven.
