Lincoln Name Meaning

A rugged name with presidential polish, Lincoln has been moving and grooving on the charts in recent years. An English name meaning “lake colony”, Lincoln is the new Landon, wearing well on today’s playgrounds.

Lincoln has enviable historical significance, as President Lincoln is best known for abolishing slavery and helping heal the divide of the Civil War, a wonderful association for any name. A name with natural charisma and leadership qualities, it’s no surprise that parents are loving Lincoln.

While widely well-known, Lincoln manages to fly under the radar in many ways, avoiding the trendy feel often associated with other names. He fits in the surname style seen in Jackson and Carter, but avoids feeling timestamped or overused.

Lincoln has an adventurous side that is perfect for a little boy on the move, free of the stuffy feel often found in other surname choices. He also has the super cool nickname of Link, a word name find that fits in with Chase and Dash. At the same time, Lincoln works just as nicely on an adult, not at all juvenile.

A versatile pick for today’s little one, Lincoln has a lot to offer. He’s presidential yet playful and rugged yet stately.

It’s an awesome name, honestly, and it’s always cool to meet a kid with the same name as me – not often, but still cool. I’m glad that there are people who love the name as much as I do.

  11. We didn’t have any names picked out and didn’t know what we were having. Our little guy was nameless for 3 days. Lincoln had always been in the back of my head. It is unique but not crazy sounding. He has so many nicknames!!! I absolutely love his name and it fits him sooooo perfectly ?

Although we didn’t feel obligated to do so, we really liked the name Lincoln which has been used on his dads side of the family. We like that it’s not extremely popular but still recognizable and fits well with the middle and last name we chose.

  13. I looked at so many names, I picked out Bruce as a middle name. (His grandpa’s name) I thought about Oscar with the nickname Ozzy I also liked Oliver, but it was a bit common for me and I like the girl’s name Olive, (a little bit more than Oliver) and if I ever have a girl she will probably be named Olive and I’m not keen on Oliver & Olive. anyway, I saw Lincoln on a list and thought it was so cute! The meaning of Lake village is special because we had him at our beach house.
