When did you realize you were really in labor?
At 2am my contractions woke me up. They were intense right from the start.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I have had all three of my kids naturally. So with nothing to compare it to, I'm not sure. I am guessing having something to take the edge off would feel great, but there is no feeling like your child's body being born. I would never want to dull that feeling.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Exercising everyday was very important to me. Also, drinking pregnancy tea, which I didn't do with my two previous pregnancies. I think that made all the difference in how fast she came.

What surprised you about your birth?
Well, after only 8 hours of labor, we had our baby in the car on the freeway as we were heading to the hospital. Luckily my mom was in her car and ended up pulling over with us and she caught the baby in her green jacket. It was all pretty perfect, thank the Lord. His angels must have been watching over us!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Warm bath and shower were very helpful. The birthing ball was also great and my husband applying pressure to my hips.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
In the front seat of the car there weren't many options. I was sitting facing forward.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Scary and amazing. I couldn't believe she came so fast. Also, I was scared she may have trouble breathing, but she was fine.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
