When did you realize you were really in labor?
The morning of December 10, around 8:00am, while my husband was taking our oldest off to school. These were very early contractions but I knew it was the real deal.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
For me, the most challenging part is about 5 minutes prior to pushing. With all three of my children, I had that moment of panic when I thought I would not be able to do it. The self-doubt was powerful.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
Honestly, I think drinking red raspberry leaf tea and doing lots of squats, and cat/cow pose.
-
What surprised you about your birth?
My water never broke on its own with any of my children. With each one, the midwives broke my water when I was at 9cm. I never truly experienced the water breaking sensation.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Standing up, rotating my hips, and the tub. I gave birth to my third in a birthing tub.

What position did you end up delivering in?
All three I delivered in a sitting up/semi-reclined position.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Amazing, overwhelming, beautiful, and relief.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Hang in there! And that for each person, it is different. Focus on the end result and realize that the pain or discomfort is not permanent.
