  1. i am a mommy

  2. Carl was named after his Great Grandpa Carl Ray.

  3. My husband and father in law both got the first name Carl. I wasnt sold on the name so my first son has my husbands middle name and the same initials because I didnt want to make him a jr. We didnt plan on having another boy but it happened lol. We picked out the name Lucas. He would have been Lucas Orion but my father in law passed away about 2 weeks before he was born and my husband felt very strongly about giving him the name so I sucked it up and changed it. Now we have our little Carl Lucas.

  4. I picked the name Carl because that’s his father’s name and his grandfather, & great grandfathers name as well it meant alot to him to name him after him

  5. We chose Carl because it’s a family name on my husband’s side. His great grandpa was Carl, he was a WW2 vet who was at Normandy the day after D-Day. I know my husband (who’s an army combat vet as well) has a lot of respect for him and I think that’s why he wanted Carl. His grandpa and a few uncles are also Carl. I’ll admit, I wasn’t in love with it at first, but once little man got here I knew it was right. ?

  6. My husband is the fourth Carl in his family, though all the men have different middle names. So as long as our son looked like a Carl, which he did in the 3D ultrasound and when he came out, he was going to be a Carl. We also liked the description in The New Baby Name Survey of the “Image” Carl invokes: “…a sociable guy, even though he’s a bit of a geek. People say Carl is goofy, sweet, and smart to the point of being nerdy. His friends are know to enjoy his funny stories.” This description was a bit of my husband and a bit of me so we thought it was perfect. We did have some indecision on naming him Carl since it’s not a popular or modern name, but it was going to be weird breaking a family tradition and he did look like a Carl and I love my husband so we stayed with Carl. He’s pretty much lived up to his name and his dad’s characteristics so we’re still happy with our choice. The double Carls/Big Carl Little Carl does help people remember their names so much easier too. Mom gets lost in the introductions!
