I am a proud herbalist, gardener and holistic inspired individual who loves cooking, homesteading, and doing it essentially all myself whenever possible. In my herbal studies, I was studying scientific names of the herbs when Avena sativa came up — Milky Oats, Oatstraw, Oats. I thought to myself this would be a beautiful first name Avena Rose to a little girl when my partner and I are ready to go down that path. Come 5 years later, and we intentionally conceived our first little girl deciding her name was chosen long ago before we even knew our first would be a girl. We honestly didn’t even look at other names before decided on all the name potentials for kids we may have. We felt that sometimes the names come to you decided. We now have a beautiful newborn baby Avena Rose, and couldn’t be happier. The name is also Italian for Oat farmer!
