  1. My family calls me Alex, my friends call me Lexi … Hello again! Just wanted to say I am NOT Greek but I love the meaning of my name, I am Irish ( Dad’s side ? ), American ( Dad’s Side ? ), Mexican ( Mom’s Side ? ), & A Little More Irish ? ( Mom’s Side ? )

    • I put emojis but the won’t pop up so ignore the ? marks

  2. My family calls me Alex, my friends call me Lexi. My mom always said I was named after someone but I can never remember who. I’ve always wanted to know the meaning of my first name. Now time to find the meanings of my two last names ( One of which is hopefully getting taken off soon because my dad has never been in the picture ) and my middle name

  3. We chose this name for our daughter after my grandfather Alexander. We just call her Lexie 😀

  4. I love this name.It is a strong name and full of courage

  5. I was named after my great Uncle Alexander who passed away as a child in the early 1900s. I had 5 aunts and 1 Uncle on my mom’s side who was my cousin Amy’s father. There was a 20 year span of only boys until I was born April 20th 1991. Our family called it the 20 year male curse haha. I guess you could say that I broke the curse unexpectedly born a female. My grandpa’s Arthur Zanetti had been hoping for a girl for those 2 decades. So when told the news he teared up with joy while home watching the Detroit Tigers game on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. I’ve been told my grandpa Arthur’s Zanetti and I were very close despite only being 2 when he passed away from a relapse of Pancreatic Cancer. So my mom heard it was possible to be unable to have a girl or boy and assumed she couldn’t have a girl planning to name Alexander. There’s a couple of things I don’t care for for about the name. For instance I get called Alexandria all the time wheter its misheard or read and when I went by Ally I was called Allison or Alice often. Ive had my name mistaken for Alexa, Lexi, Alexis, Lexus, Alexander when some were unaware of the female version and finally a mix between the 2 Alexandera. When introduce myself to people I tell them my full name is Alexandra not Alexandria and I’ll respond to Alexandra, Alex or Ally. They normally respond with which name do you prefer? I reply with I go by all 3 and i prefer them to choose. Just as long as it’s one of those 3. As a baby I was known by Alexandra and Alex. Ally came along when my little bither Ian 3 years my junior developed a lisp thus unable to pronounce his x’s. I remember he would tell people that he made up the name Ally haha. From then on most called me Ally except for my grandma Wemyss (Wemyss) who always called me Alexandra. I do love the name and I think it’s beautiful. I honestly would consider naming my daughter Alessandra and Alice for short. I also like the name Alexander and Love that my name means defender of mankind because I’m always trying to help others anyway I can!

  6. I love the name Alex so it was gonna be baby Alex whether she was a boy or girl!

  7. My name is Alexandra Elizabeth Neil. My parents had a hard time choosing my name, but they landed on Alexandra. No one calls me Alexandra because I go by lexie part of what I like about long names like mine is that there are endless opportunities with Nicknames, and if you get in trouble, ita a lot of fun to say your full name. I also felt that I could personalize my name to me.

  8. Family name

  9. i like this name, not because it’s my name or anything…

  10. It is a cute name some of my best friends were named alexandra

  11. I’ve alaways knew that if it will be a girl, her name will be Alexandra. For me reprez a strong, beautiful name.

  12. It’s a name that is classic, feminine, strong. Lots of options for nicknames. Sounds good in multiple languages.

  13. Alexandra was one of my husbands top picks. He didn’t love my picks, so I compromised on it. But I do love it now. We call her Alex for short which I adore tomboy names. Her middle name is Jett after legendary punk rocker Joan Jett.

  14. My husband chose this name because he is a History major and big into History. We call her Alex for now, but she’s only 9 months old and may want to go by a different nickname in the future. We thought it flowed well with her chosen middle name. My husband also likes how lyrical Alexandra sounds. He’s a fan of names that end in A
