Salted seaweed is awesome! Eat it like chips, or with some steamed rice is good too.
I’m going to have to try golden berries!
I just watched your other video at Nikki’s channel and I totally cringed when you said that Whole Foods didn’t have GMO foods. They have TONS of GMO ingredients in the foods that they sell…. sadly
I dream of being able to walk into a store that sells nothing but non-gmo foods, THAT would be amazing!
Yeah, it saddens me what sometimes sneaks by as “health food” at Whole Foods, although I still find their selection to be wonderfully abundant in foods that aren’t GMO or more unusual products. I live in a smaller town in the PacNW with no Whole Foods and I have to say, I’d rather have one close by than not. It certainly offers a lot of convenience. Although our local little health food market is pretty amazing and definitely is much closer to a completely non GMO shopping experience.
I’ve just had to become more resourceful without Whole Foods. I found my own egg farmer (which led to getting backyard chickens), got bees (YAY!), joined a CSA, expanded my garden exponentially, replaced our landscaping with edible landscaping (herbs and indigenous fruit) and order my staple non-GMO foods in bulk from Azure Standard Farms each month. As the growing season picks up I rarely step foot inside a grocery store for months at a time. Don’t miss Whole Foods then!
I love all the superfoods you mentioned Genevieve. I’m learning kombucha making. The mushroom part is suuuper easy, it’s the adding fruit juices and forming carbonation that I’m a little afraid of. You should definitely venture into it though. Making it at home is a difference of pennies on the dollar. Although I LOVE your favorite kombucha too. Actually, my favorite is Gingerade kombucha. Good stuff! Another easy and delicous beverage is water kefir. If you haven’t delved into it, it’s even easier than the kombucha and you can add fruit juices to it too.
Happy superfooding!
Thanks Leah. Yeah, I’ve done some homework since then, and I do see that WF carries GMO products, just like every other grocery store
But, they do avoid it in their 365 brand, and, of course, they’ve got an awesome organic selection that’s all GMO-free.

Of course they do have lots of non-GMO verified foods, but it really makes me angry that they seem to be trying to pass themselves off as “non-GMO” (and they’re obviously doing a good job when even an informed person, such as yourself, gets tricked into believing) as a whole when in reality they sell loads of GMO-containing foods. I think it really hurts “the cause.”
Mmm most of those are already on our monthly groceries
Love them, my husband and I are huge Kombucha drinkers we drink the “Wonderful Kombucha” brand I need to make the time to brew it at home. I love that this drink is what stirred him away from drinking sodas.
Here is a good undercover video on GMOs at Whole Foods:
